If you've got kids then I'm sure they'll appreciate this. It's just a simple sugar cookie recipe from allfood.com. It's a lot more fun if you get out the cookie cutters and make holiday shapes!
Sugar Cookies
Classic cookies, and fun to make with children.
Yield: Makes 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Granulated sugar
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets. 2. Beat together brown sugar and butter in bowl until creamy and smooth; beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt on until completely combined.
3. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto greased baking sheets. Moisten flat bottom of drinking glass. Dip glass in granulated sugar and press down cookie. Repeat to flatten each ball of dough.
4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned at edges. Let cool slightly on baking sheets; transfer to wire rack to cool completely. Store in airtight containers.
