COOKIE recipe???

i need an oatmeal cookie recipe without butter/shortening and rasins.......HELP.....and thanx in advance :)COOKIE recipe???
Applesauce is a great substitute for butter, and even the unsweetened kind packs enough sweetness that less than a half cup of sugar (white and brown combined) needs to be added to the recipe. Chocolate chips can be substituted with dried berries and nuts (though I had to indulge with a few chips myself!). The recipe calls for only 1 egg and 1 cup of flour, but I'm sure substitutes can be found for those as well. And of course, we all know how good oatmeal is for us.

No Butter Oatmeal Cookies

1/4 cup sugar (I actually cut this down to 3 tbps, which tasted fine)

1/4 cup brown sugar (see above)

1 tsp vanilla

1 egg

3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup flour

3 cups uncooked oatmeal

2-2 1/2 cup combination of dried cranberries/chocolate chips/almonds/raisins/etc.

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and egg into apple sauce. In a smaller bowl, mix salt and baking soda into flour. Add the flour mixture to the apple sauce mixture and mix well. Fold in oatmeal, then chips/berries/nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. You may flatten them a bit if you'd like a flatter cookie.

Bake for 8-9 minutes (10 for a more crisp cookie). Let stand for 2 minutes before transferring cookies to wire racks to cool. Makes ~4 dozen* cookies.COOKIE recipe???
Do you have any Crisco? A lot of oatmeal cookies use shortening instead of butter or margarine. My recipe from my sister-in-law uses Crisco and is yummy - my brother says his wife's oatmeal cookies are the best he's ever had, so now I use her recipe!

You might even find a recipe for ';salad'; oil meaning vegetable, corn or canola but I'd stay away from olive oil in cookies and cakes due to the taste change. If you check some of the other sites for recipes, you might even find one with applesauce.

Good luck and enjoy your cookies.
Use peanut butter for all the fats needed in the recipe!! or Nutella or something like that.

Crisco IS shortening.

Leave out the raisins or add more of something else. Dates, dried fruit bits.

You really don't have to put the nuts or raisins in Oatmeal cookies.

One time I needed to make cookies for something and was out of shortening and butter and margarine. So I tried using the peanut butter. It worked like a charm, in fact I now don't bother doing the shortening thing in cookies at all. Just use a nut butter.

If that won't suit, go to http://www.recipezaar.com and find a recipe that is tried and true posted by someone with only the ingredients you want in it.
